State of the art computers allow us to complete a customer’s transactions in just moments. Our massive shredder facility enables us to process metals at a rate far exceeding that of what we were able to process back in the day.
We also take great pride in always maintaining a debris free customer area. Our lot is completely paved. Like we said… we are all about the customer experience!

1940 Smith Junk and Salvage Founded
Charles A. Smith, Sr. founded Smith Junk and Salvage. The original location was 1805 East Cary Street, Richmond, Virginia.1965 Name Change to Smith, Iron & Metal
Smith Junk and Salvage incorporated and became Smith Iron & Metal Co., Inc.1975 Second Location
Opened second location at 3000 Bells Road, Richmond, Virginia1991 Consolidated Operations
Consolidated operations to 3000 Bells Road2006 State of the Art Technology
Added state of the art computer system to increase the speed and efficiency of operations.2007 Upgraded Shredder Facility
