If you’re looking to start scrapping, or looking to go full time, you’ll need some tools to make the most of your time. See below for a quick rundown of the tools we recommend every scrapper has either on-hand or in the workshop!
Ah, the trusty multitool! As the name suggests, a good multitool will fill a variety of roles on your hunt for scrap, and if you only have one tool… make it this one!
A handheld stiff-bristle broom will help you unearth and uncover hidden scrap. Additionally, it will help you clean the scrap after you get it back to the workshop. Cleaned and stripped scrap fetches a higher price, so consider this a good investment!
It only makes sense if you’re scrapping cable that you have a good pair of cable cutters on hand. These will save you a ton of time and hassle… just remember to be safe with them!
Think of this as the engine for your workshop! We recommend you get a nice electrical one to power all your tools at home, and a portable one for field work (one that plugs in to your car’s AC adapter would be perfect!)
We’ve written a blog about this one already, but it’s worth mentioning again. Magnets are an essential tool for any scrapper. They’ll help you quickly find and identify scrap… what more needs to be said!
This one’s self explanatory and honestly, you probably already have a nice hammer. If you don’t… reconsider your life choices!
Unless you are smelting it down yourself or using it directly, one of the best tools in a scrapper’s arsenal is a good scrapyard to sell to. That’s where we come in!
