Over the decades we’ve called Richmond home, the general layout of our scrapyard has remained mostly the same. We’ve added some cool things over time (like the scrap shredder and the Smith Iron & Metal train), but the layout works – and it works well! What you see below is an up-to-date map of our scrap yard, with arrows indicating the flow of traffic for both our private and commercial scrappers.

Here’s a quick rundown:

Entrance and Exit: located at 3000 Bells road!

Train: an awesome, Smith Iron & Metal branded train car

Commercial Scale: where our commercial and industrial clients take their scrap haul!

Main Building: where the magic (and paperwork) happens. This is where you’ll meet our guys, and get your initial weigh-in

Loading Dock: where you offload your scrap and get weighed again

Shredder Material, I Beams Plate, Aluminum, Insulated Wire: Everything you bring to our scrap yard is sorted into giant piles of scrap for further downstream processing!

Cashier: You’ve been weighed, you’ve unloaded, and been weighed again… this is where you get paid!
